The Isle of Skye (an t-Eilean Sgiathanach in Gaelic) takes its name from the old Norse sky-a, meaning 'cloud island', a Viking reference to the often-mist-enshrouded Cuillin Hills. It's the second-largest of Scotland's islands, a 50-mile-long patchwork of velvet moors, jagged mountains, sparkling lochs and towering sea cliffs. The stunning scenery is the main attraction, but when the mist closes in there are plenty of castles, crofting museums and cosy pubs and restaurants; there are also dozens of art galleries and craft studios.
Along with Edinburgh and Loch Ness, Skye is one of Scotland's top three tourist destinations.

Relaxing tours around the romantic Isle of Skye. Travelling around the Highlands in comfort and style. Pickups and transfers from anywhere in Scotland.

For our bespoke tours, you are collected from your Inverness hotel, B&B, or our town centre office and we head along the side of Loch Ness stopping at various viewpoints, perhaps to photograph Urquhart Castle. After Invermoriston we take a stunning drive towards the romantic Isle of Skye. En route is some of Scotland's most dramatic scenery including the renowned five Sisters of Kintail. Eventually we arrive at one of Scotland's most photographed castles. Eilean Donan Castle where time can be provided for a visit.

Eilean Donan Castle is one of the most recognised castles in Scotland, and probably appears on more shortbread tins and calendars than any other. It is, without doubt, a Scottish icon and certainly one of the most popular visitor attractions in the Highlands. When you first set eyes on it, it is easy to understand Why so many people flock to its stout doors year after year. Strategically located on its own little island, overlooking the Isle of Skye, at the point where three great sea-lochs meet, and surrounded by the majestic splendour of the forested mountains of Kintail, Eilean Donan's setting is truly breath-taking. Eilean Donan has been a popular location for many movies including, Highlander, James Bond — (The World Is Not Enough), Loch Ness and numerous other films.
